The «Elbe» Collection

The «Elbe» Collection focusses on fields such as the German Empire, Occupied Territories and Fieldpost, Saar, and Germany from 1945 as well as on a 20-volume special collection of Heligoland postage stamps. The German Empire excels with top items in exquisite mnh [mint never hinged] condition. This is followed by numerous rare color and watermark varieties, and it ends with the two unissued NSKK and NSFK stamps of 1945 – the adverse course of the war prevented these projected and printed stamps from being issued as planned in the spring of 1945.
Among the Occupied Territories, the famous Heydrich Souvenir Sheet is presented in perfect quality. This is supplemented by a proof of the same souvenir sheet with the control number missing. According to the appropriate expert, Mr. Mahr, this a unique item. The «queen» of the Saar Territory issues, a perfect copy of the 20 Mark with «BAYERN / SARRE» surcharge, also is part of this collection. Postwar Germany makes lasting impressions with numerous rare items of the Soviet Occupation Zone, Berlin varieties and the legendary «Gscheidle Stamp» on cover. The latter stamp was supposed to be issued on 10 April 1980 to commemorate the Moscow Olympic Games, but then was retracted for political reasons. The divorced ex-wife of Postal Secretary Kurt Gscheidle had accidentally used, for her private mail, several of those stamps from a proof sheet that she happened to find in the secretary’s desk.

20 Mk. dunkelbraun, Aufdruck vom Feld 11 der echten Überdruckplatte. Die äusserst seltene Marke ist frisch und einwandfrei, ungebraucht mit Falz. Von den ursprünglichen 16 überdruckten Exemplare sindnoch zwischen 12-14 Stücke registriert. Attest Burger (1988) und Echtheitsbestätigung Dr. Dub (1967). Mi. 160'000.–. Kat.-Nr. D 31

Sonderausgabe 1880 anlässlich der Sommer-Olympiade in Moskau, die sogenannte «Gscheidle-Marke» auf Briefumschlag, portogerecht an Andreas (Schäfer) in (3392 Clausthal-Zellerfeld). Schäfer ist ein Cousin von Gscheidle jun. und es existiert ein weiterer Brief mit gleicher, aber vollständiger Adresse (Rapp-Auktion 2004). Die zurückgezogene Marke ist in sauberer und tadelloser Erhaltung, die Adresse ist teilweise wie erwähnt gelöscht, rückseitig fehlen Teile der Briefklappe. Attest Schlegel (1986). Mi. 50'000.–. Heydrich-Block ohne Nummer, in etwas breiterem Format von 103 x 150 mm und die Marke mit Kastenzähnung 12 1/2 statt 14 wie bei den nummerierten Blocks. Laut ausführlichem Attest Mahr absolut postfrisch ohne jeglichen Mangel. Es handelt sich um einen Probedruck und zugleich vermutlich um ein Unikat von höchstem Liebhaberwert! Kat.-Nr. I
